Newly installed Caldicot Town Manager Tony Wallis statement:

"Firstly, my initial comment is how excited and privileged I am to be appointed in my first managerial opportunity. It’s an ideal time for me from a professional and personal point of view, having now decided to take a step back from playing.

I’m delighted to have secured the services of another former player, Andrew Wenzel, who will now take on an invaluable coaching assistant role alongside myself and existing experienced staff members, Julian Williams and John Burrows.

After meeting the board, it was clear that we shared the same ambitions and were prepared to work together to take the club in the right direction. The disappointment of last season is already firmly behind us, with our minds now solely focused on plans for the future and what we can achieve. I can’t wait to begin working with the squad as we aim to be a competitive force in division 2 next season."

Club Statement

Caldicot Town AFC are pleased to announce the following team management updates for season 2017/18

Our current manager Mark Williams and assistant Jamie Carwardine have now stepped down and the club would like to thank both of them for all their efforts over the past seasons. Mark Williams will now take up a role supporting overall the football management team at the club.

We now welcome Tony Wallis as our new manager and Andrew Wenzle as his assistant. They will also be supported by the coaching team of John Burrows and Julian Williams.

Tony steps up to team manager  having been a key player for the club over the past couple of seasons and brings a wealth of experience having played for the likes of Cardiff City and Risca United. Tony also holds a UEFA B License which is another major asset required in modern day coaching.

Andrew Wenzle steps into the assistant managers role and like Tony has been a key performer for Caldicot in the last few years as well as his time with the club before a brief spell with Chepstow. Andrew or "Wenz" has a raft of Welsh League experience and understands the club well enough to know what is expected by the supporters come game time.

The club again would like to thank the outgoing management team and wish the very best of luck to Tony and Andrew for next season.

Stepping down, Mark Williams pictured collecting the Welsh League Division Two Championship last season.

Mark took over the reigns as the club was starting to find it's feet again and after coming close to promotion in 2014/15, Mark led the side to the Championship last season. Mark was also in charge of the team when they won the Gwent County Senior Cup. During his time in charge Mark has got married and started a family but will still play a role

A big thanks to everyone at the club, loved every minute of it, a great bunch of lads I've had the privilege of managing over the past 5 seasons. Thanks to all the Management during that time, all the players, the supporters and a big thank you to the club and senior officers for giving me the opportunity.

Not the season I would have liked to step down after but they will bounce back with the great squad of lads they have and the new management team. A Gwent County Senior Cup win and a Welsh League Division Two Championship isn't too shabby!

Mark Williams

Golden Boot Winner for Season 2016/17

Congratulations to Tyler Wilson on winning this seasons Golden Boot award. Tyler who scored a total of 30 goals this year mainly for the youth team finished his season on a high when making an appearance for the first team in Saturdays away draw at Goytre.

Well Done Tyler!

Caldicot Town Ladies Complete League & Cup Double!

Sunday saw Luke Harris's Ladies team travel to Penybont's ground to face Dinas Powys in the South Wales FA Cup. Having lost to Dinas early in the season in another cup match, the Ladies knew that they were going to be in for a game.

However by half time the Ladies were three goals to the good with a 30 yard strike from Sarah Sprintall the pick of the goals. A fourth was added in the second half to complete a fine victory and the League and Cup double. So a fantastic season for the Ladies where they will now prepare to life in the Womens Premier League for Season 2017/18

Well done to all involved
